Dos Lunas Añejo
The Dos Lunas Añejo has become our sipping tequila of choice, which is to say it is incredibly flavorful and smooth. Believe it or not, butterscotch and vanilla dominate the nose of this incredible tequila. One whiff and you will be hooked! Made from natural yeast, this añejo is aged for 18 months in bourbon barrels and New American oak barrels, offering accents of warm vanilla and spiced plums. In February, Dos Lunas Añejo won the Gold Medal at the 2008 Agave Spirits Challenge in Cancun, Mexico, beating out over 80 other tequilas in a blind tasting.TEQUILA
Tequila is at least three times more complex than most drinkers realize: Blancos, reposados, and añejos each play distinct roles in the world of mixology that go well beyond the standard shot-and-a-lime. True tequila must be distilled from the hearts of 100% blue agave cactus plants. The youngest and most straightforward members of the tequila family are the blancos, which are distilled and put into the bottles without undergoing any aging process. Reposado tequilas have spent at least two months, but less than a year, in an oak barrel. Their straw yellow color comes from this aging process, and they begin to exhibit the characteristics of pepper and smoke. Añejo tequilas have spent at least a year in oak barrels and have a more developed flavor profile than younger tequilas. Their golden color is evidence that the aging process has imparted a robust flavor profile of wood, pepper, and smoke as well as agave nectar. In 2006, a category of “extra añejo” was approved by the Mexican government for tequilas that have spent at least two years in an oak barrel, but these still remain rare offering in the market.1800 Reposado

Try this sipping rum on the rocks all by itself. This rum’s golden color intriguingly alludes to its honey-like viscosity and mouth feel. Twenty years in the barrel gives the Zacapa 23yr an unmistakable flavor profile of sugarcane, honey, and a touch of cinnamon on the finish. The lack of any alcohol burn is a testament to its velvety characterSea Wynde Rum
This highly complex rum starts with the intricate aroma of toffee and toast, which are quickly followed by coffee and molasses flavors on the palate. The backbone of this rum is of honey and oaky coffee, but oak and vanilla dominate the finish.RUM
Rum is a fermented and distilled spirit made from sugarcane by-products such as molasses and sugarcane juice. Rum’s roots run deep in many cultures and geographic regions die to its historical popularity with sailors, pirates, colonists, and indigenous peoples throughout the Western hemisphere. Spanish speaking countries commonly refer to the spirit as “ron”, while their French counterparts spell the spirit “rhum.” Today, white rums are commonly used in cocktails while darker aged rums are sipped neat or on the rocks. Rum was widely popular in the early American colonies; in fact, the oldest distillery in the American colonies was a rum still set up on Staten Island in 1664. It is estimated that the early colonists drank at least 13.5 liters of rum each year to help them adapt to questionable drinking water and keep their spirits high!Appleton Estate VX
